The God of Tits and Wine - Greyhawk Version

🍷 THE REVELCOURT OF OERTH

A lesser-but-widely-worshipped collection of demigods and ascended spirits centered around Bacchalon, the God of Tits and Wine.

Though not part of the First Circle of the Flanaess Pantheon, the Revelcourt is recognized from the Wild Coast to the Kron Hills. Temples range from roadside shrines to grand festival-halls in Dyvers, Rel Astra, and certain neighborhoods of Greyhawk’s River Quarter.

These gods are popular among common folk, adventurers, performers, and anyone who believes life should be lived fully — but also understood carefully.

🍷 BACCHALON

Demigod of Revelry, Wine, Warmth, and Bold Affection

Lord Ambassador, To’Mas Waverly, Skymarshal of the Realm and Guardian of Greyhawk drinking with Bacchalon

Alignment: CN
Favored Weapon: Tankard, whip, or dagger (depending on region)
Holy Symbol: A goblet overflowing with wine, flanked by two stylized feminine silhouettes
Worshippers: Bards, wine-merchants, riverfolk, courtesans, free-spirits, traveling performers

In Greyhawk Lore

Bacchalon is said to have been a heroic mortal bard from Old Ferrond, whose revels were so legendary that Olidammara himself lifted him to divine status. Some claim he is Olidammara’s “wayward student.” Others say he tricked a minor demon-lord of indulgence and stole his portfolio.

Dogma

“Life is too short for fear, shame, or empty cups.”

🌹 VELARIA OF THE MIRRORED HEART

Lesser Goddess of Desire, Beauty, and Self-Regard

Alignment: CG
Holy Symbol: Silver mirror with a blooming rose
Common Worship: Celene, Highfolk, portions of Dyvers and Hardby

Velaria is said to have been a handmaiden-spirit of Myhriss, who “wandered too close to Bacchalon’s celebrations” and found her own divine spark in witnessing mortal passion.

Her clerics preach body confidence, the celebration of beauty in all forms, and the sanctity of desire.

Greyhawk Tie-In: Artists along the Selintan invoke Velaria before beginning portraiture.

🍇 VINTARA THE VINTAGE QUEEN

Lesser Goddess of Winecraft, Fermentation, and Hearth Celebration

Alignment: NG
Holy Symbol: Grape cluster spiraling into a rune
Primary Worship: The wine regions of Onnwal, Nyrond, and Urnst

Vintara is older than Bacchalon — a Flan agricultural spirit elevated by generations of vintners. Bacchalon adores her, but she frequently scolds him.

Greyhawk rumor: She alone knows a vintage that can make a dragon laugh.

Thrum and Grenna share a little Fey cheer

🐐 THRUM OF THE HORNS

Fey Demigod of Mischief, Drunken Courage, and Bad Decisions

Alignment: CN
Holy Symbol: Inverted wine bottle
Seat of Power: The Gnarley Forest

Thrum is considered a Gnarley Forest fey-lord who joined Bacchalon’s court after a brawl that lasted three days and ended in friendship. He is invoked whenever someone says, “I probably shouldn’t, but…”

Followers include:
rangers, hunters, Wild Coast ruffians, and Greyhawk students.

🕯️ SERENYA THE MORNING STAR

Goddess of Clarity, Regret, and Sobering Truths

Alignment: LN
Holy Symbol: A half-burnt candle
Worshippers: Monks, healers, young nobles, and repentant rogues

Serenya is said to be Bacchalon’s older sister, a Flan spirit of dawn and personal responsibility. She is invoked in Greyhawk City by:

  • hungover apprentices

  • guilty lovers

  • adventurers waking in strange places

Her temples often sit beside Bacchalon’s, as if waiting for the inevitable.

🔥 EMBERLYN OF THE SCARLET FLAME

Demi-goddess of Sensual Heat, Passion Fire, and Performative Seduction

Alignment: CN
Symbol: A flame bearing a feminine silhouette
Worship: Notably strong in the Wild Coast, the Cairn Hills, and some secretive circles in Hardby

Some scholars say Emberlyn is a renegade servant of Pyremius who abandoned the god after falling in love with dance and mortal intimacy. Her followers perform fire-dances during Bacchalon’s festivals.

😈 NYCHTHELIA, THE BLACK CHALICE

Lesser Goddess of Temptation, Excess, and Forbidden Indulgence

Alignment: CE
Symbol: A black chalice with swirling violet smoke
Worship: Hidden cults in major cities, the Bandit Kingdoms, the Pomarj

The dark mirror of the Revelcourt. Nychthelia seduces mortals toward addiction, obsession, and ruin. Many believe she was once part of Bacchalon’s circle before falling into corruption under the influence of fiendish patrons.

Her cult is illegal in most of the Flanaess.

🧊 AUSTERION THE COOL-MINDED

God of Temperance, Restraint, and the Still Cup

Alignment: LN
Symbol: A single drop of water
Worship: Monasteries, certain merchant guilds, lawful governments

Austerion opposes Bacchalon philosophically but respects him cosmically. Their rivalry is legendary — stories say their arguments once lasted a full season and changed the weather patterns in Verbobonc.

🍻 GORNDRUM BARRELBREAKER

Dwarven Hero-God of Drinking Contests and Boisterous Fellowship

Alignment: CG
Symbol: A bottomless tankard
Seat of Worship: Irongate, the Abbor-Alz mining camps

A dwarven hero elevated through tale and toast, Gorndrum is a friendly rival to Bacchalon. Their worshippers frequently co-run festivals — usually requiring reinforcements from local guards.

🎉 THE REVELCOURT IN THE FLANAESS

The pantheon is not officially recognized in all regions, but is popular in:

  • Greyhawk City (River Quarter, Clerkburg)

  • Dyvers

  • The Wild Coast

  • Hardby (lower districts)

  • Highfolk and Celene (Velaria-focused)

  • Irongate (Gorndrum)

  • Ulek states (Vintara and Serenya)

The Revelcourt’s greatest observance is the Twelfthnight of Bacchalon, a winter festival banned in Furyondy three times but still celebrated.
