Pharaoh’s Gleaming Sheath

"To say I’ve seen my fair share of tombs would be like saying trolls have bad manners—technically accurate, but woefully insufficient. Yet nothing, nothing, prepared me for the tomb beneath the sandstone cliffs of the Zeifian frontier. It was there, deep beneath layers of imperial dust and the curses of a dozen forgotten priesthoods, that we uncovered what I now dub the Pharaoh’s Gleaming Sheath.

Set at the very heart of the burial chamber, framed in jade blades and glittering electrum tokens, the relic shone with such preposterous brilliance I first believed it a trick of the lantern. But no, this artifact—clearly placed with absurd ceremonial reverence upon the, ahem, sovereign’s solar center—was no mere ornament. Its aura practically sang with enchantment, a radiant thrum echoing deep in one’s chest (and, I daresay, ego).

I postulate it belonged to a solar cult whose rites emphasized virility, charisma, and radiant dominance—perhaps the ancient Order of the Golden Scepter, though the iconography suggests something more... personal. Initial identification glyphs hint at enchantments tied to confidence, fearlessness, and what can only be described as “unbreakable presence.” Dangerous in the wrong hands. Hilarious in most.

I have commissioned three sketches and a full mapping of the tomb for our next Reveu Brothers guidebook: “Eccentric Tombs & Where Not to Touch Things.” I fully expect it to be our best-selling edition.

Rarity: Very Rare
Description: This ornate golden sheath was worn by a long-forgotten pharaoh whose pride knew no mortal bounds. Despite lying buried for millennia, it gleams with unnatural brilliance and hums with residual divine energy.

While attuned:

  • Blinding Gleam (1/day): As an action, unleash a radiant flare. All creatures within 15 feet must succeed a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be blinded until the end of their next turn.

  • Unyielding Confidence: Gain advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) and (Performance) checks while not wearing pants or other groin-covering armor.

  • Gleaming Legacy: Undead have disadvantage on attack rolls against you, repelled by the divine absurdity of your radiance.

Curse (optional): You must pass a DC 12 Wisdom save each day or become compelled to show it off in public. Disadvantage on Stealth checks if uncovered.
